Oklahoma City closed out the fourth quarter on a 14-4 run, capped by Kevin Durant’s 3-pointer to send it into overtime, where the Thunder downed the visiting Washington Wizards 106-105.
The hot-shooting young Wizards led by ten with three minutes to play in regulation, but the Thunder, sparked by aggressive rebounding from Serge Ibaka (25 pts, 12 feb, 4 bs) and offensive sparks from Jeremy Lamb, Perry Jones and Reggie Jackson to improve to 5-1 to start the season. Thabo Sefolosha also sparked the Thunder defensively, and said his team was fired up after Russell Westbrook was ejected from the game late..
Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook was ejected following a late brush-up with the Wizards’ Nene. Nene had been jawing and roughing up Westbrook much of the game before they were tossed late in the 4th. You can read more about the story and see highlights here.
It also was an emotional win sparked by the always loud Thunder crowd, since OKC now heads to the road for three games in the next eight days, starting Wednesday night in Los Angeles against the Clippers.
