As promised earlier in the week, Oklahoma’s head coach Bob Stoops announced his team’s pre-season roster, but the expected “trending” story changed from Jaz Reynolds’ status to Ben Habern’s surprising announcement.
The senior center from Austin announced that he will “conclude his playing career due to lingering neck and back concerns” according to a Sooners press release. The former All Big 12 honorable mention played only six games last year due to an arm injury, but started in 30 games at center throughout his career.
As for Reynolds, the junior out of Houston, Texas remains suspended from game action but has been reinstated to the practice roster along with fellow junior wide receiver Trey Franks and sophomore defensive back QUentin Hayes. Kameel Jackson’s suspension remains in place. According to OU, his suspension “will be reviewed at the conclusion of the current academic session.
OU is picked as the pre-season favorite to claim the Big 12 football title this season in a pre-season poll of conference coaches.
