from Senior Bowl
Mobile, AL. (Jan. 16)—The North squad defense for next week’s Senior Bowl just got a whole lot better. University of Oklahoma defensive back Jamell Fleming has officially accepted an invitation to the 2012 game, it was announced today. Fleming will be coached by Leslie Frazier and the Minnesota Vikings coaching staff next week. The 63rd Senior Bowl is scheduled for 3pm (CT) on Saturday, January 28th in Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The game and all practices will be televised live by NFL Network.
“Jamell is certainly deserving of this opportunity to spend a week here with the top decision makers in the National Football League,” Senior Bowl President and CEO Steve Hale said. “He’s proven to be one of the premier defenders in the Big 12 and we expect him to put on a show here in front of the NFL scouts, coaches and GMs.”
Fleming earned first-team All-Big 12 honors this season after finishing fifth on the team with 60 tackles, including four tackles for loss. He added ten pass breakups, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries on the year. He also returned a fumble 56 yards for a score against Texas—the second touchdown of his career.
Fleming was a two-year starter for the Sooners notching 168 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, one sack, seven interceptions and 24 pass breakups.
