Oklahoma City, Okla. – Luis Cruz belted solo home runs in the second and ninth innings and sent the Round Rock Express (12-4) to a 2-1 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (4-11) in front of 6,267 Friday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.
Round Rock took its seventh consecutive victory while Oklahoma City suffered its sixth straight loss.
Mark Lowe (1-0) took the relief win, dealing two scoreless frames. Casey Fien (1-1) gave up the game-winning home run in the ninth inning for the loss.
Round Rock got on the board first in the second inning on a solo home run from Luis Cruz, off Oklahoma City starter Henry Villar, opening a 1-0 Express lead.
Oklahoma City tied the game in the fourth inning when Carlos Corporan belted a solo home run into the right field bullpen, evening the score at 1-1. The home run was the only hit off Round Rock starter Seth McClung in a five inning appearance.
The score remained tied through eight innings when Cruz launched his second home run of the game off reliever Casey Fien, opening a 2-1 Round Rock lead.
