Nashville, Tenn. – The Oklahoma City RedHawks (2-4) rallied from a 5-0 first inning deficit for a 7-6 win in eight innings in game one of a Tuesday doubleheader, before falling 2-1 in game two against the Nashville Sounds (4-2) in front of 2,097 at Greer Stadium.

In game one, Jose Valdez (1-0) took the winning decision, dealing one and two-thirds scoreless frames with one hit, two walks and two strikeouts. Nashville reliever Jim Henderson (0-1) fell in the losing decision, giving up the game-winning home run in the eighth inning.

Nashville opened a 5-0 lead in the first inning against Oklahoma City starter Henry Villar. Mat Gamel drove in the first run on an RBI double. Brendan Katin next belted a two-run home run before Mike Rivera and Taylor Green hit solo home runs for the early advantage.

Oklahoma City added two runs in the second inning against Nashville starter Sam Narron on a Tommy Manzella RBI double and Oswaldo Navarro RBI single for a 5-2 score. In the bottom of the second Nashville’s Brett Carroll drove in Narron on a sacrifice fly for a 6-2 Sounds lead.

The RedHawks started a comeback bid in the fourth inning when Manzella knocked in another run with a sacrifice fly, cutting the Sounds lead to 6-3.

Oklahoma City scored three times in the seventh inning. Jose Vallejo singled in a run before Brian Bogusevic doubled home two more for a 6-6 score, sending the game to an extra inning.

In the eighth inning, Tommy Manzella belted a leadoff home run to right field, opening a 7-6 lead.

In game two of the doubleheader Amaury Rivas (2-0) picked up the win for Nashville while Jordan Lyles (1-0) took the losing decision. Lyles allowed two runs and six hits over four innings for the loss. Mike McClendon (1) saved the game with two perfect relief frames.

Nashville broke up the pitcher’s duel in the fourth inning when Katin belted a two-run home run off Lyles, opening a 2-0 lead.

Oklahoma City cut the lead in half and ended the scoring with a fifth inning RBI pinch-hit double from J.B. Shuck, making the score 2-1.
