Memphis, Tenn. – Tony Cruz singled in the game-winning run in the seventh inning and completed a Memphis Redbirds comeback from a 2-0 deficit in a 3-2 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks before a crowd of 4,973 Friday night at AutoZone Park.

Memphis starter Brandon Dickson, a 2010 Pacific Coast League All-Star, allowed two runs and five hits over six innings but did not factor in the decision. Redbirds reliever Eduardo Sanchez (1-0) dealt two perfect relief frames for the winning decision. Fernando Rodriguez (0-1) took the loss, as he left the game-winning run on base in the seventh inning when he exited. Fernando Salas (1) saved the game, leaving two on base in the ninth inning.

Oklahoma City took a third inning lead against Dickson. Collin Delome singled and moved to third on a hit-and-run single by Oswaldo Navarro. Starting pitcher Sergio Perez next laid down a sacrifice bunt, bringing home Delome for a 1-0 score.

Delome led off the fifth inning with a first pitch home run to straight away center field, opening a 2-0 RedHawks lead.

Memphis started the comeback bid in the fifth inning against Perez. Daryl Jones led off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Adron Chambers double to cut the RedHawks lead to 2-1. After a Peter Kozma strikeout, Nick Stavinoha singled home Chambers to tie the score 2-2.

The Redbirds took the lead for good in the seventh inning. Stavinoha singled with one out off Rodriguez. Wesley Wright entered from the bullpen and walked Mark Hamilton before Matt Carpenter hit an infield single to load the bases. Ross Wolf entered in relief to face Tony Cruz, who singled home Stavinoha for the 3-2 lead.

Redbirds pitching sat down 13 consecutive RedHawks batters from the Delome home run in the fifth through the first out of the ninth inning.
